A Safe, Nurturing Environment for Infants and Toddlers

At Kinderplatz, safety isn’t an afterthought — it’s our foundation. Our licensed facility features secure entry points, trained staff certified in pediatric CPR and first aid, and classroom environments tailored for the safety and comfort of small children. We also maintain low child-to-teacher ratios that meet or exceed state standards, so every child receives personal attention and loving supervision throughout their day.

Infants and toddlers need a consistent, calm, and stimulating environment to develop healthy social-emotional, physical, and cognitive patterns. That’s exactly what we provide — alongside play-based learning, rich interaction, and daily routines that promote security and growth.

A Day in the Life at Kinderplatz

Our typical day is filled with purposeful structure, developmentally-appropriate exploration, and plenty of child-guided play both indoors and out. Each classroom is set up with thoughtfully designed interest centers — such as dramatic play, blocks, art, music, books, and cognitive activities — that promote discovery and development.

Infants enjoy gentle sensory play, music, floor time, and opportunities to begin building language and motor skills. Toddlers participate in large and small group activities, songs, interactive reading, and physical play, developing confidence, communication, and cooperation skills along the way.

Both age groups are exposed to weekly Spanish and music and movement enrichment classes, as well as weekly American sign language lessons for toddlers (and daily sign language exposure for infants). These early experiences build foundational learning skills and encourage openness to diverse cultures and communication styles.

Programs Tailored by Age and Development

We offer two dedicated, adjoined infant classrooms that work closely together as a collaborative pod:

  • Bluebirds (younger infants): 8 infants with 2 primary teachers, plus shared floater support
  • Penguins (older infants): 8 infants with 2 primary teachers, plus shared floater support

While infants spend the majority of the day in their homeroom (Bluebirds or Penguins), they may spend time in both classrooms and with all infant teachers throughout the day. This pod structure ensures consistency of care and allows children to build strong, trusting relationships with a team of responsive caregivers from their earliest days.

Our toddler program has a similar layout and also follows this pod model, supporting continuity and smooth transitions:

  • Bunnies (younger toddlers): 12 toddlers with 2–3 teachers, plus floater support
  • Teddy Bears (older toddlers): 12 toddlers with 2 teachers, plus floater support

By working as pods, our infant and toddler classrooms create a nurturing bridge between age groups. This intentional overlap helps children, families, and staff experience low-stress transitions when it’s time to move to the next stage in care. Across all classrooms, our teacher-to-child ratios allow us to offer focused, responsive care that meets each child where they are developmentally. With 3–7 additional floater teachers on most days, we go above and beyond state requirements to provide consistent attention, safe supervision, and extra support during transitions and daily activities.

Eco-Healthy Meals and Family-Centered Nutrition

We know how important it is for families to maintain consistent dietary routines at home and childcare. That’s why our childcare services include eco-healthy meals that follow USDA Child Nutrition Program guidelines. All meals are nut-free and feature baked or steamed ingredients — never fried.

From morning snack to lunch and afternoon snack, our food is freshly prepared and thoughtfully planned to meet both nutrition standards and a variety of taste preferences. Milk is served at morning snack and lunch. We also work with parents to accommodate special dietary needs and are happy to integrate parent-supplied food when needed.

Our meal program isn’t just healthy — it’s part of our wider commitment to eco-conscious practices. From healthy foods to a safe, toxin-free environment, we do our part to create a better world for the children we care for.
